The Turpins, David and his wife Louise as well as their thirteen children, were, to the rest of the world, the classic American family. Beneath the facade of familial bliss, there was a darker side. This one-off documentary investigates the years of abuse and isolation that David and Louise inflicted upon the children, and how eventually, through the bravery of their teenage daughter, their crimes were exposed to the world.
