The programme includes an extract from a 1961 performance of the Elgar Cello Concerto performed with the LSO, conducted by Colin Davis, as well as clips from the legendary Masterclasses that made Tortelier a household name in the late 1960s. There’s also a chance to see him performing with his musical family, including a teenage Yan Pascal, and an extraordinary performance of his own Song For Peace performed in the foyer of BBC Birmingham’s Pebble Mill studios.
